This policy is set out in accordance with the provisions of the Education Act of 1998. The Chairperson of the B.O.M and the Principal will be happy to clarify any further matters arising from the policy.

Denomination: Saint Patrick’s Junior School is a Catholic school whose patron is Archbishop Diarmuid Martin.

Staff: There are sixteen teachers on the staff. Twelve teachers are class teachers, three are fulltime Learning Support/Resource teachers and the Principal. We also have a shared LS/R teacher with Holmpatrick national school.

Range of Classes: The school is a co-ed Junior School. There are three classes at each level e.g. Junior Infants, Senior Infants, First Class and Second Class.

Funding: The school is funded by the Department of Education and Science and operates within the regulations laid down from time to time by the Department.

Curriculum: The school follows the curricular programmes prescribed by the Department of Education and Science which may
be amended from time to time in accordance with Sections 9 and 30 of the Education Act (1998)

Saint Patrick’s Junior School, within the context and parameters of the Department regulations and programmes, the rights of
the patron as set out in the Education Act and the funding and resources available, supports the principles of:

(a) Inclusiveness, particulary with reference to the enrolment of children
with a disability or other special educational needs.

(b) Equality of access and participation of the school.

(c) Parental choice in relation to enrolment

(d) Respect for the diversity of values, beliefs, traditions and ways of life in society.

Opening Times: The school is open to receive pupils at 8.50am. Pupils go home at 1.30pm in Junior and Senior Infants and
2.30pm in First and Second Classes.
