The celebration of First Penance takes place on Sat 11th Feb at 2pm in
St. Patrick's Church

The celebration of First Holy Communion takes place on Sat 19th May
at 11am. All children should arrive in Church by 10.50am
please.

We understand that this celebration is a very special event in the life
of not only your child but also your family. Due to the large number of
children participating in the ceremony and in order to allow for a safe
and comfortable celebration we would ask that no more than six people
per family attend the church.

The First Communicants will sit in the front rows with their teachers.
Bags, beads, gloves and prayer books should be left with parents.
The priests have requested that no cameras or video cameras be
used during the ceremony.

When Mass has ended each class will be called to the Sanctuary
class by class, for their class photograph. Parents may take their
own photographs of the class at that time.

Parents are concerned with the practice that has evolved of
cards being distributed amongst First Communicants. It is felt
that cards should only be distributed in the privacy of the home
and not outside the church nor in the school.
Parents have also asked that this should be a Money Free
occasion and no money gifts be given to school friends.

A Communion Celebration will be held for all second class children
and their parents following the Communion Mass in the school halla.
Light refreshments will be served.

This celebration is now an annual event. It is a beautiful occasion
and could not happen without all those volunteers who give their
time so willingly.

Traditionally the First Communicants visit all the classrooms in their
Communion outfit on the Monday morning. The children will be allowed
to go home at 10.30a.m.on Monday. Normal absence procedure applies.
