Dear Parents, we are again this year requesting no gifts to staff (teachers, snas, secretary, caretaker etc.) as outlined below.
Christmas is a time when people show appreciation by giving gifts. This is nowhere more true than in schools where staff members
receive very many tokens of appreciation. This year we are all very aware of the difficult financial situation in the country.
In an attempt to remove some of the commercial pressure associated with Christmas, and in keeping with the ethos of this school,
we have decided to ask parents not to give presents to the staff. This will only be successful if all parents co-operate.
We understand that there is joy in giving as much as in receiving. This was very evident in the generous response to the appeal
by the Parents’ Association for gifts for various charities. Donations to a charity of your child’s choosing could be an alternative
giving experience for your child. Cards made for teacher and illustrated and signed by children are always acceptable and indeed
a treat in themselves. We are thankful of your support and assure you that as a staff we are aware of your continued
appreciation, gratitude and good wishes.
Yours sincerely,
Miriam Jenkinson |
